Probably many people noticed that New Year and Christmas bring not only joy and festive mood, but leave lots of mess in the streets. Geneva officials decided to solve this problem by their own way. This Tuesday, Geneva started collecting Christmas trees that already started to show up on the city’s streets on Monday. But this year, they are to be recycled rather than burnt. In past, there were about 10-20 tons of pine trees burnt in Geneva incinerator in Cheneviers after the New Year holidays. This time there was a recycling company called Serbeco hired, which will help get rid of the trees by the means of recycling. This will guarantee not only better ecological usage, but help save more money for the city. The recycled trees will be turned into wood chips and then sent to Italy, where they will be reconstituted as parcelboards. This way, the tress can be used in furniture industry.
