1-16 September 2006 Geneva welcomes a very important event in its artistic life called La Bâtie festival. This is a festival which combines all kinds of artistic performances from contemporary dance to classical drama, unexpected performances, installations and the visual arts (there will be about 20 different venues this year). It was first organized at the La Bâtie Forest (and that’s where the name of the festival comes from), but because of it’s rapid growth and a great number of visitors (during the previous years, there were all in all about 40.000 spectators and 200 performances at the festival) it had to leave it’s original home, but still continues to introduce new talents and high-quality acts. At the same time, there are special bars opened in old theatres for the event, which also make the occasion extremely popular among the local people.
