Large amounts of water and strong winds came down on Switzerland. Many parts of the country received up to 40 liters of rain per square meter, which caused several landslides. Authorities explain that the situation is not dangerous for now, but that certain rivers might overflow if it continued raining as much. Furthermore, the seasonal snowmelt could also contribute to the rise in water levels. One of the mudslides caused a train traveling between Zurich and Bern to derail. The 500 passengers were unharmed but were forced to wait during 3 hours before continuing their journeys. Another landslide cut off a road and partially covered a car. The driver managed to get herself out of her automobile alone, but was nevertheless hospitalized because the experience had left her in a state of shock.
