La Poste, the Swiss postal service, boasts that it delivered over 15 million parcels over the month of December. Officials say that on peak days, between the 13th and the 21st of December, the sorting centers had a daily traffic of 1 million packages. The normal daily traffic is of half a million. La Poste also explains that it had exceptionally made deliveries on Saturday December 24th. Moreover, for the ninth consecutive year, postal offices across the country are participating in a charitable action called ’2 times Christmas,’ where people can bring packages with donations for the needy in Eastern Europe. The postal service then carries the gifts free of charge to the Red Cross who ships them out to the beneficiaries in Moldavia, Romania, and Bulgaria.
